FAYETTEVILLE - In recognition of her contributions off the court in the Northwest Arkansas area, senior Clarissa Pavey has been named to the 2013 Southeastern Conference Volleyball Community Service Team. The SEC sponsors a community service team for all league-sponsored sports. This is the 10th such team for the SEC volleyball programs.

Pavey participates in several projects and programs as part of the University of Arkansas' outreach efforts to local elementary schools. She was part of the Razorbacks' Sweat Hawgs at Happy Hollow Elementary School to promote the department's message of physical education and healthy eating habits. Pavey also volunteered with Happy Hollow, helping out in the classroom of kindergarten students.

Additionally, she has been active in Boys & Girls Club clinics, the Girl Scout Fun Olympics and MLK Kid's Day. Pavey was also part of Arkansas' Lift Up America last April in which more than 75 Razorback student-athletes and coaches helped distribute more than 30,000 pounds of food to the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank.

The Plano, Texas, native is a two-time selection to the SEC Academic Honor Roll. Pavey carries a 3.69 cumulative grade-point average in her undergraduate studies in childhood education with an emphasis in special education.

Pavey and the Razorbacks continue their 2013 season Friday with first-round action of the NCAA Tournament against Creighton in Lawrence, Kan. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. (CT) at Allen Fieldhouse. Arkansas received an at-large bid into the postseason which marks the program's second-consecutive NCAA trip and 11th in program history overall.
