LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Playing together and one of the final groups on the course, Arkansas men’s golf sophomore Taylor Moore and senior Sebastian Cappelen each finished in the top five on the first day of the Patriot All-America on Sunday at The Wigwam Golf Course.

Amongst a field of 84 that includes PING All-Americans from a year ago, top five finishers from last year’s event and AJGA All-America first team members that are now college freshmen, Moore fired a two-under 68 to sit in a tie for third, while Cappelen started his title defense with a one-under 69 for a tie for fifth. Just nine players finished the opening round under par.

Separated by just one stroke, Moore and Cappelen will be paired together again for Monday’s second round, going off the first tee at 10:30 a.m. Live scoring is available at www.PatriotAllAmerica.com while updates on Cappelen and Moore’s round can be found by following @RazorbackMGolf on Twitter.

Moore’s day opened with a 33 on the front nine before he closed with a 35 on the back for his 68. Cappelen fought back from playing the first six holes one-over par with three birdies over the final 12 holes. One of those birdies came on the par 4, 18th hole where Cappelen won last year’s Patriot All-America by rolling in a 16-foot putt. He’s birdied the 18th hole in three of four rounds played at the event.

Tim Crouch of Florida Southern leads the field at four-under 66, while Kyle Westmoreland’s three-under 67 is good for second through the first round.
