Day 6

Happy Friday!

It's our last day here in Delray Beach! This morning the sprinters lifted and performed a power and effort workout. The distance group swam and then lifted. Afterwards, we ate lunch as usual in our rooms. The weather was very chilly today, so no one ventured out to the beach. Instead, we all napped in our rooms before departing for our competition with Vanderbilt.

This meet consisted of several dive efforts and a final relay. We were divided into sprinters and distance swimmers, with the sprinters performing the 400-yard freestyle relay and the distance swimmers performing the 800 freestyle relay. The wind had picked up, and both teams were freezing as we scrambled to the blocks and back into the relatively warm water to avoid the cold. Poor Julia Kucherich's lips turned purple!

The team all dined out for dinner tonight. A group of us made a dinner reservation at a local sushi and oyster bar called Salt 7. We dined like kings and splurged on all the finest seafood our per diem could afford. A few of the girls tried oysters for the first time and loved them! We stopped at Kilwins, a local chocolate and ice cream shop on the way back. Some girls chose ice cream while others tried candy apples and chocolate truffles. Even after we were full from sushi, everything was way too tempting for us athletes!

We're sad to see the sunny beach go, but I know we are all looking forward to spending time in our own homes again. As a senior, this is my last training trip, and I will forever cherish the memories I have made with this amazing group of women.

Thanks for following along with me in my blogging travels. It's been great sharing all the fun we've had with you! Woo Pig and GO HOGS!
