FAYETTEVILLE - Defensive line and specialists coach Rory Segrest sat down with Chuck Barrett for Razorback fans to get to know the newest assistant coach.
Coach Segrest talked about his first 24 hours in Fayetteville and the process of being hired by head coach Bret Bielema. Coach Segrest also spoke about the benefits of coaching in the NFL, including being on the coaching staff for the 2009 Pro Bowl, how he started his coaching career as a student assistant coach at Alabama under Gene Stallings and what message he will deliver to his student-athletes.
Coach Segrest was announced as the Razorbacks' newest assistant coach Wednesday. He spent five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, helping the franchise to three playoff appearances, two NFC East titles and one NFC Championship Game. Most recently, he was defensive line coach and special teams coordinator at Samford. Last season the Bulldogs led their conference in tackles for loss and sacks, and kickoff returner Fabian Truss was named an All-American after ranking second in the nation with an average of 32.1 yards per kickoff return.
