FAYETTEVILLE – The No. 10 University of Arkansas gymnastics team travels to Columbia, Mo., to face its first Southeastern Conference foe in Missouri on Fri., Jan. 17. The meet is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.

“We are looking forward to our trip to Columbia,” co-head coach Mark Cook said. “This will be our first trip competing there with Missouri in the conference and they have a new coaching staff including one of our former All-Americans, Casey Jo Magee.”

Both teams are entering the meet having opened their season last Friday. The Razorbacks hosted Western Michigan and Bridgeport in a tri-meet and collected the program’s second-highest opening meet score in program history of a 196.200. Missouri, opened its season at Alabama scoring a 193.425.

After the Razorbacks first competition, the squad moved into the top 10 of the national rankings and put four different gymnasts among the top 25 of the individual events. Senior All-American Katherine Grable scored a 39.475 in the all-around to earn the No. 4 overall gymnast ranking, followed by freshman Amanda Wellick who scored a 39.300 to be the No. 13 overall gymnast.

Sophomore Sydnie Dillard set a career best mark of 9.90 on the beam to rank as the No. 8 beam worker and senior Shelby Salmon is tied with Wellick in the No. 17 spot in the bars rankings. Grable ranks as high as No. 9 on the floor and is featured in the rankings on the vault and beam as well.

The meet is scheduled to be one of the three Pink Meets that the Razorbacks will compete in this season, alongside competing at Alabama in the following meet and at home in Barnhill Arena hosting LSU.
