FAYETTEVILLE - The No. 58 Arkansas men's tennis team will open its 2014 season at home on Friday with a double-header against Mercer at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The Razorbacks are returning seven letter-winning upperclassmen from the 2013 squad including seniors Hall Fess and Pete Thomason. Fess spent most of the 2013 season at the No. 3 spot in singles, collecting seven wins, and Thomason recorded 10 wins and finished the season on an eight-match win streak. Seniors Manfred Jeske and Mike Nott also bring plenty of experience to the court this season. The duo, ranked in the 2013 ITA preseason top 10, won nine matches together, earning a berth to the NCAA Tournament round of sixteen.

Arkansas also brings new faces to the squad this season adding two freshmen, Juan Marino and Johan den Toom, and redshirt freshman Jacob Herndon. All three student-athletes look to bring a spark to the team.

This will be the first meeting between the University of Arkansas and Mercer. The Razorbacks have opened the past two seasons with victories in the Billingsley Center.

Live stats and a live blog will be available during Friday’s matches at ArkansasRazorbacks.com. A full recap and results will be available following the conclusion of play.
