This is the second of four preseason features ahead of the Razorbacks' 2014 season opener Feb. 7 against UC Davis at the UNLV Sportco Kick-Off Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. Next week, we sit down for a Q&A with the six members of the 2014 senior class.

FAYETTEVILLE - The University of Arkansas softball team is three weeks away from first pitch of the 2014 season against UC Davis at the UNLV Sportco Kick-Off Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. The Razorbacks enter the season with 480 wins as a program, just 20 victories shy of the 500 mark. Flipping the pages of the calendar back to 1997 will reveal Arkansas' first-ever win, a 5-4 win over No. 22 Hawaii at the San Diego State Classic in California.

FEBRUARY 20, 1997 || Arkansas 5, #22 Hawaii 4 || San Diego, Calif.

With the score tied at 4-4, junior Lisa Flores hit a game-winning home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Arkansas to the program's first-ever win, a 5-4 triumph over No. 22 Hawaii. Freshman Jen Cirigliano and junior Augrista Belford each had two hits while freshman hurler Tammy Kincaid struck out five hitters in 6.1 innings of relief work. In the top of the seventh, Hawaii had two runners on base with no outs but Kincaid and the Razorbacks worked out of the frame without allowing a run to clinch the milestone win. The victory also marked the Razorbacks' first win against a ranked team.
