FAYETTEVILLE - Head coach Robert Pulliza has announced the addition of Ben Boldt as an assistant coach for the University of Arkansas volleyball team. He previously served as an assistant coach at the University of Iowa and University of Alabama. In recognition of his work on the sidelines, Boldt was part of the inaugural AVCA Thirty Under 30 Awards class in 2009.

"We are really excited to have Ben join our staff," Pulliza said. "As we continue to raise the bar for Razorback volleyball, it is important to have people that understand and want to work to achieve those goals. Ben is passionate about the game of volleyball and will be a great asset in the gym and the recruiting trail."

Boldt spent the past five seasons in the Big Ten Conference as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Iowa. During his time in Iowa City, the Hawkeyes collected three wins over ranked opponents with victories over No. 12 Purdue in 2012, No. 16 Michigan in 2010 and No. 18 Michigan State in 2009. The team also racked up two Big Ten Player of the Week awards and earned 29 Academic All-Big Ten selections during his tenure.

Individually, Boldt oversaw the development of libero Bethany Yeager who finished her collegiate career with 2,007 digs to become the first player in program history eclipse the 2,000-dig mark. She joined the program in Boldt's second season at Iowa and went on to break the school record in digs and finished ranked sixth all-time in the Big Ten.

Boldt is no stranger to the Southeastern Conference having spent the 2007 and 2008 seasons at Alabama. The Crimson Tide were selected to the NCAA Tournament in 2007 after finished third in the SEC West with a 12-8 record in conference play.

During his two-year stay in Tuscaloosa, Boldt helped coached Alabama players to two AVCA Honorable Mention All-America honors, three All-SEC selections and 21 SEC Academic Honor Roll spots. He was also part of a staff that brought in Alabama's first top-30 recruiting class in program history. Following his final season at Alabama, Boldt was recognized by the AVCA as a Thirty Under 30 recipient.

Boldt spent five years as a staff assistant at the University of Nebraska where he earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science in 2005. During his time with the Cornhuskers, he saw the team claim five Big 12 titles, make three National Semifinal appearances and win an NCAA title in 2006.

In addition to his experience at the collegiate level, Boldt has previous ties to the USA National Team program as a coach with the Youth National Team in 2005-06 and National A2 Team in 2004. At the club level, he most recently served as the head coach for the Iowa Rockets with additional head coach duties for the Challenger Volleyball Club in 2000-04 and Nebraska Juniors in 2005-06.

The Hickman, Neb., native joins a staff that includes Pulliza, associate head coach and recruiting coordinator Carol Price-Torok and director of operations Blaire Hiler. Boldt is married to Angie Boldt who has previous experience as an assistant coach and director of operations at Iowa.
