FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A 9-0 Missouri run inside of two minutes broke a 64-64 tie and resulted in a 75-71 loss for the Arkansas men’s basketball team on Wednesday night at Bud Walton Arena.
Arkansas trailed by as many as 10, 56-46, in the second half, but fought back to tie the game two different times with the final one coming with 1:59 to play. Junior Rashad Madden’s (@RKMadden00) old-fashioned equaled the score at 64-64 and gave Arkansas’ leading scorer his second straight 20-point effort.
With the game tied at 64-64, Missouri responded with a three-pointer by Earnest Ross on the very next possession off of one of its 16 offensive rebounds. The Tigers preceded to get three straight stops on the defensive end while coming away with points on five straight possessions during the game-clinching 9-0 spurt.
Ross’s three-pointer was part of his 24-point night, while junior Jordan Clarkson equaled the senior’s outing with 24 points of his own. Ross and Clarkson were both 8-for-8 at the free throw line on the night, while Missouri (16-4, 4-3) made all 16 of its attempts at the charity stripe in the second half.
Madden’s 20 points featured 4-of-8 shooting from three-point land, as Arkansas fell to 13-7 overall and 2-5 in the SEC. Sophomore Michael Qualls (@Mr_WalkOnAir) and freshman Bobby Portis (@BPortisTime) joined Madden in double figures with 16 points each.

Following a three-pointer by Madden from the snout of the Razorback at halfcourt that tied the game at 41-41, Arkansas came away with a steal on the very next possession that resulted in senior Coty Clarke (@CTC_4) throwing a perfect lob to a streak Qualls for the dunk. Qualls’s 22nd dunk of the year brought the crowd of 14,102 fans at Bud Walton Arena to their feet and gave the Razorbacks their first lead of the second half at 43-41 (15:37).
Key To The Contest
Despite committing an uncharacteristic 19 turnovers, Missouri was able to overcome all the miscues by owning a 42-26 edge on the glass, including 16 offensive rebounds that led to 15 second chance points. Ross’ three-pointer with 1:08 to play and the score tied off an offensive rebound which he grabbed and got back off an assist from Clarkson.
