FAYETTEVILLE - Junior utility player Devon Wallace has earned a spot on the 2014 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Watch List, as released Wednesday afternoon by the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America and USA Softball. This marks the second career appearance for Wallace who was previously selected to the Watch List and eventually named a Top 25 Player of the Year finalist in 2013.

Last season, Wallace led the NCAA with a .627 on-base percentage and 79 walks and capped the year as an NFCA All-South Region honoree. She led the team with 13 home runs and 55 runs scored, and finished second on the team with a .376 batting average and 10 doubles. Wallace set Arkansas single-season records with her on-base percentage, walks and .768 slugging percentage.

Entering the 2014 season, Wallace is third place on the program's all-time list with 28 home runs, just 15 shy of tying the school record of 43 career home runs set by Miranda Dixon (2007-10). Wallace has a school-record 132 walk through her first two years at Arkansas and is 52 shy of tying the all-time SEC mark of 184 career walks. The Double Oaks, Texas, native was also a 2013 CoSIDA Academic All-District performer in the classroom.

Throughout the season, Arkansas is scheduled to face 14 players listed on the preseason POY Watch List. The Razorbacks begin their 2014 season Feb. 7-9 at the Sportco Kick-Off Classic in Las Vegas where they are scheduled to face No. 16/18 Baylor, San Diego, UC Davis, host UNLV and No. 5/3 Washington.

The Southeastern Conference leads the nation's conferences with seven teams represented on the Watch List. The Top 25 finalists for the 2014 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award will be announced April 9. Now in its 13th year, the prestigious award is designed to recognize outstanding athletic achievement by female collegiate softball players across the country.
