FAYETTEVILLE – The No. 10 University of Arkansas gymnastics team is set to host the No. 12 Auburn Tigers inside the friendly confines of Barnhill Arena on Friday, Jan. 31. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
Senior All-American Katherine Grable
comes into the meet as the No. 4 overall gymnast in the country and will be poised to lead the team in the search for her fourth all-around title of the season. Grable owns an average of 39.492 in the all-around competition ahead of Auburn’s Caitlin Atkinson who has an average of 39.167 on the season.
“Auburn is a great team, they have been improving each week.” co-head coach René Lyst said. “The team that goes out there this weekend and competes hard, stays focused and stays within themselves will come out of this meet on top. We are excited for this competition and ready for the challenge.”
The Razorbacks come into the meet with a season high of 196.200 which the team scored in the season opening meet while hosting Bridgeport and Western Michigan at home in Barnhill Arena. While compared to Auburn, which has a season high of 196.850 which the team just scored at No. 2 LSU this past weekend. Auburn has improved its score in each week this season and freshman M.J. Rott was just named the SEC Freshman of the Week.
Arkansas is 13-10 all-time against Auburn with a pair of narrow losses last season at Auburn and at the SEC Championships in North Little Rock, Ark.
