No. 11 Gymbacks Host No. 3 LSU For Pink Meet

FAYETTEVILLE – The No. 11 University of Arkansas gymnastics team is set to host the No. 3 LSU Tigers inside the friendly confines of Barnhill Arena on Friday, Feb. 7. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Senior All-American Katherine Grable comes into the meet as the No. 4 overall gymnast in the country and will be poised to lead the team in the search for her fifth all-around title of the season. Grable owns an average of 39.513 in the all-around competition and will be matched in a head-to-head competition against LSU’s Rheagan Courville, who has a season average of 39.519 and rated as the second overall gymnast in the country.

“This week of preparation we really focused on commanding routines,” co-head coach Mark Cook said. “This meet will be a great event for us, it is always great to support breast cancer awareness. We really cherish that we compete against all of these great teams in the SEC each year because it really prepares us for the post season and this meet will help us later on this season.”

The Razorbacks come into the meet with a season high of 196.200 which the team scored in the season opening meet while hosting Bridgeport and Western Michigan at home in Barnhill Arena. While compared to LSU, which has a season high of 197.650 which is the third highest score in the nation. LSU has a season average of 197.225 and a season low of 196.875 which the team scored in its only away meet of the season.

In the event rankings, the Razorbacks are for No. 11 on the vault, 19th on bars, 5th on the beam and 15th on the floor. While LSU is in the top ten on each event with a No. 2 ranking on the vault and floor, No. 3 on the beam and No. 7 on the bars.

The meet will be featured as the Flip for a Cure meet promote breast cancer awareness. Fans who wear pink to the meet will receive two dollar general admission tickets. The first 1,000 fans will receive a pink water bottle.

Promotions for the meet include free schedule posters and schedule magnets. Also t-shirts will be thrown into the stands each time the Razorbacks score a 9.8 or higher.
