Men's Track and Field Hosts Tyson Invitational This Weekend

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas is set to host the Tyson Invitational Friday and Saturday at Randal Tyson Track Center. Friday’s field events begin at 11 a.m., followed by a noon start on Saturday.

NATIONAL RANKINGS
The men’s team enters the weekend as the top-ranked team in the country, welcoming nine other ranked opponents to Randal Tyson. The No. 1 Razorbacks are joined by three top-ten foes, No. 5 Wisconsin, No. 6 Florida State and No. 9 Nebraska. Alabama comes in as the No. 11 team in the country, along with No. 13 Texas, No. 17 Mississippi State and No. 18 LSU. Illinois and Southern California round out the ranked opponents to watch this weekend at No. 23 and No. 24, respectively.

WHAT TO WATCH: RUNNING EVENTS
As the NCAA Championships draw near, athletes are picking up the pace in hopes of making an NCAA-qualifying time. Currently, several Razorbacks are ranked among the nation’s leaders. Heading into the weekend, Neil Braddy ranks among the top-10 400-meter runners in the nation with a time of 46.36 achieved at the Arkansas vs. Texas Duals. The men’s 4x400 relay team holds onto the No. 2 spot in the country with an impressive finish at the Razorback Invitational in 3:05.02.


WHAT TO WATCH: FIELD EVENTS

The men have had quite a showing in the field events this season, with Raymond Higgs (25-10) and Jarrion Lawson (25-6.75) posting the No. 3 and No. 4 long jump marks in the NCAA, respectively. Freshman Clive Pullen is leading the nation’s freshman class in triple jump with a mark of 52-6.5. Anothony May is also in the nation’s top-10 in high jump (7-2.5) and triple jump (52-8.75).


LAST INDOOR HOME MEET
This weekend will mark the final indoor home meet of the season, as the Razorbacks prepare for the Southeastern Conference Championships February 27 – March 1 in College Station, Texas. The NCAA Championships will take place March 14-15 in Albuquerque, N.M.


PARKING FOR TYSON INVITATIONAL
Due to baseball this weekend, free parking for the Tyson Invitational will be located across Razorback Road in the Baum East Parking lot. Parking attendants will be present directing traffic.
