FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas men’s track and field team is the top-ranked team in the nation for the fifth-consecutive week, as announced by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday.

Debuting in the No. 1 spot five weeks ago, the Razorbacks have continued to defend their top-ranked position each week. Arkansas is currently ranked among the nation’s best performers in eight different events, including two collegiate leaders in Kevin Lazas and Raymond Higgs. NCAA heptathlon defending champion Lazas is leading the collegiate field with 5,923 points earned at the Razorback Invitational. This past weekend at the Tyson Invitational, Higgs recorded the top long jump mark in the nation with 26-2.75, moving up from his previous national ranking of No. 3. Andrew Irwin made a strong comeback at pole vault this weekend, earning a mark of 18-4.5, third-best mark in the nation.

Arkansas will send a contingent to the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind. this weekend before heading to the SEC Championships in College Stations, Texas February 27 – March 1.
