ATHENS, Ga. – Arkansas qualified for all individual swimming finals on Saturday in a fast last day of prelims at the SEC Championships at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. Junior Susanna White
(Forest, Va.) had her fourth school-record swim of the championships and sophomore Anna Mayfield
(San Antonio, Texas) qualified for an A final this evening. Five personal records also fell across the three events.
White began the prelims session with an exciting NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 48.89 in the 100-yard freestyle to claim the Arkansas school record and a spot in the B final. The swim was White’s fourth record-breaking swim of the championships and her third school record claimed. Sophomore Maddie Monroe
(Godfrey, Ill.) followed closely behind with a personal-best, NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 49.07 to qualify her for the C final this evening. Monroe’s swim marked the third-fastest in program history. Sophomore Nina Drolc
(Velenje, Slovenia) also posted a qualifying time for tonight’s C final with a 49.52. Senior Shelby Cox
(Little Rock, Ark.) swam a personal-best time of 51.33 to cap the Razorbacks in the event. Cox has clocked personal-best swims in each of her three events this week.
Mayfield swam a season-best, NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 1:55.05 in the 200 backstroke to earn a ticket to the A final. Mayfield will be the second Razorback to swim in an A final during these championships. Mayfield’s swim was the second-fastest in program history. Freshman Sarah Easterling
(Cumberland, Maine) earned a personal-best mark in the event, swimming a 2:02.24. Easterling swam personal-best times in each of her three events at the championships.
Junior Nikki Daniels
(Wichita, Kan.) led the Razorback contingency in the 200 breaststroke prelims. Daniels placed 12th overall with an NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 2:11.50. Junior Julia Banach
(Eilat, Israel) also clocked an NCAA ‘B’ time with a 2:13.68, and both swimmers will appear in the B final of the event.
Senior Kesha Naylor
(Saskatchewan, Canada) led the Razorbacks in platform diving with an NCAA zone-qualifying score of 246.20. Sophomores Shelby Bartlett
(Noblesville, Ind.) and Hannah Bortnick
(Mission Hills, Kan.) both posted career-best scores with 221.30 and 201.10, respectively.
