HUMBLE, Texas – For the second straight day the No. 19 Arkansas men’s golf team improved its score, concluding the Bayou City Collegiate Championships held at The Golf Club of Houston with a six-under 282 to finish in sole possession of fourth place in the 15-team field.

Led by two-under par 70s from sophomore Taylor Moore and redshirt sophomore Kolton Crawford, all five Razorbacks finished at par or lower on the day and did so in a combined 10 of 15 rounds over the weekend. Arkansas posted a three-day scorecard of 287-286-282 to shoot a nine-under par 855, extending its streak of under-par rounds to a season-best four.

Tournament host and No. 15 Houston took the tournament title by eight strokes over No. 21 Texas and 18 over third place No. 29 South Carolina. Houston carded the low round each of the first two days en route to a 33-under par score of 833.

Moore’s 70 was his second in a row and capped a 72-70-70/212, good for a tie for 10th place in the 85-player field. The Edmond, Okla. product was able to pick up his second straight top 10 finish and team-leading fourth of the year thanks to three birdies in his final five holes. Moore, who was named the SEC Golfer of the Week last Wednesday, led the field in par 4 scoring at five-under, as five of his six birdies in the final round were on par 4s. Moore now has five straight rounds at par or lower, finishing as the team’s low man in three of those rounds.

Crawford’s season-low 70 also featured a strong finish, as he too birdied three of his final five holes. One of three Razorbacks to play all seven events this year along with Moore and senior Sebastian Cappelen, Crawford played his final 31 holes of the tournament at five-under with eight birdies along the way to finish in a tie for 21st place. His three-day 72-73-70/215(-1) is a season-low and was keyed by playing the par 72 course’s back nine at two-under with just one bogey.

Sophomore Nicolas Echavarria finished off a strong tournament with a one-under 71 that put him in sole possession of 20th overall at two-under 214. Echavarria’s weekend started with a season-low three-under 69 that featured a streak of five consecutive birdies on the front nine. The 20th place showing was the best of the year for Echavarria, who also set a season-best with 12 birdies through the three rounds, one of three Razorbacks to tie for the team lead over the weekend.

Cappelen contributed a counting score for the 21st straight round to start the year with a one-under 71, while redshirt senior William Meason improved by one stroke for the second straight day with an even-par 72. Cappelen’s 71 is his 11th under-par round of the year, as he was part of a tie for 21st place with Crawford. Cappelen’s 74-70-71/215 marked the third time this year he’s finished a 54-hole event under-par. Making his second straight, Meason has shot 75 or lower all six rounds this spring, carding a three-day 74-73-72/219 to tie for 43rd place.
