No. 4 Arkansas Chasing Back-to-Back SEC Indoor Titles

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas women’s track and field team is looking for its second-consecutive Southeastern Conference Indoor Championship title this week as the No. 4 Razorbacks head to the SEC Championships in College Station, Texas. The three-day championships, hosted by Texas A&M, will take place Thursday, February 27 – Saturday, March 1.

The women are ranked as the No. 4 team in the nation for the second week in a row. The women have been ranked in the top 10 throughout the entire indoor season, climbing to No. 4 last week. No. 1 Oregon holds on strong in the top-ranked position for the second-consecutive week. Florida and Texas A&M are in a close race in the second and third spots, with No. 2 Florida owning a three-point advantage. The No. 4 Razorbacks are well-ahead of Texas, rounding out the top five.

A nation-leading 15 Southeastern Conference men’s and women’s track and field teams are ranked in the top-25 nationally heading into the 2014 SEC Indoor Championships this week. SEC Women’s Rankings: No. 2 Florida, No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Arkansas, No. 6 Kentucky, No. 7 Georgia, No. 14 LSU, No. 23 Mississippi State & No. 25 Missouri.

The Razorbacks are ranked in the nation’s top 20 in 12 different events. The Razorback's distance squad has been a bright spot this season, boasting three of the nation's top-10 mile runners. Grace Heymsfield broke the Arkansas school record with 4:34.22, ranking No. 2 in the NCAA. Stephanie Brown ranks 7th in the nation with 4:35.86, with Dominique Scott in 9th place nationally with a personal-best time of 4:36.11. The distance medley relay team of Heymsfield, Chrishuna Williams, Scott and Brown also set a new school record of 10:57.15, ranking No. 4 in the nation.
