May, Higgs Crowned SEC Champions; Razorbacks in 1st Place

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of Arkansas men’s track and field team tabbed two 2014 Southeastern Conference event champions and advanced five runners to Saturday’s finals on day two of the SEC Championships. With 56 points, the Razorbacks have a comfortable lead over second-place Kentucky (30.22 points) heading into the finals on Saturday.

Anthony May won the high jump clearing 7-0.5 for the SEC event title. Noah Kittelson was awarded with a third-place finish after clearing the 6-9 mark. 

Raymond Higgs was crowned the 2014 SEC Indoor long jump champion with a first-place mark of 25-8.25. The Razorbacks had a 1-2 finish in long jump with Jarrion Lawson finishing second with a mark of 25-6. 

Heading into day two the Razorbacks held three top-10 spots in the heptathlon. Brad Culp sat in sixth place in the heptathlon, with Nathanael Franks just behind in seventh place. Lane Austell wrapped up day one in 10th place to round out the top ten. All three Razorbacks pulled ahead with Culp finishing fourth (5,268 pts), Franks in fifth place (5,275 pts) and Austell in seventh (5,059 pts).
