Bucknam Named SEC Coach of the Year, McLeod Freshman Runner

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Fresh off their third-consecutive indoor conference title, the No. 2 Razorbacks earned Southeastern Conference honors, as announced by the league on Friday.

Heading into the championships with the top-ranked team in the nation, head coach Chris Bucknam won his fifth SEC Title in six years, earning SEC Coach of the Year. Bucknam’s team scored 121 points at the 2014 SEC Indoor Championships, earning three individual titles (high jump, long jump, 5000m). The Razorbacks also had five events earn a silver medal (60m hurdles, pole vault, long jump, triple jump and 5000m). Bucknam and the Razorbacks have five qualifying marks for the 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships.

Following a successful first season with the Razorbacks, Omar McLeod was named SEC Freshman Runner of the Year. The Kingston, Jamaica native ranks ninth in the nation as a true freshman in the 60-meter hurdles, with his runner-up finishing time of 7.70 at the SEC Championships. His time ranks 3rd all-time in school history. The freshman was a member of the fourth-fastest qualifying 4x400-meter relay team that finished in a season-best time of 3:04.94 at the SEC Championships, which ranks 3rd all-time at Arkansas, 4th in the SEC and 5th in the nation. Entering the season, McLeod was one of the top sprinters in the nation, ranking in the top-five in the 60-meter dash in his first season with a time of 6.73.
