HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – University of Arkansas freshman Summar Roachell carded a career-best 69 in second round action moving up the leaderboard and leading the No. 4 Razorbacks into seventh place at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, S.C., Saturday.

Roachell is tied for 16th overall leading Arkansas with rounds of 78-69=147.  Arkansas posted a 300 and is seventh with 597 (297-300).

“Today was a tough day for us,” Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said.  “As I told the players, I love that we can look at the bright side of it and create a plan for our team.  We just have to focus on committing to one shot at a time and controlling the things we can control.  Today was a good learning moment for our team.  I’m happy that it happened now so we can get back out there tomorrow and make those adjustments.

I just can’t say enough about Summar today,” Estes-Taylor continued.  “To shoot two-under on this golf course is indicative of how much she is learning and growing.”

Roachell, a Conway, Ark., native, opened with back-to-back par holes before a bogey on the third hole.  Roachell then strung together three consecutive par holes and finished with a birdie-par-birdie to turn one-under.

Roachell continued great play with seven consecutive pars before posting a two on the par three 17th hole dropping to two-under for the round.

Sophomore Gabriela Lopez and senior Emily Tubert are tied for 30th overall with 150.  Lopez posted rounds of 69-81 while Tubert is in the clubhouse with rounds of 75-75.

Senior Emma Lavy and sophomore Regina Plasencia are tied for 65th overall with 156.  Lavy opened with a 75 followed by 81 today while Plasencia carded rounds of 81-75.

“We are going to go out tomorrow and work hard and hit good committed golf shots and a good round is just round the corner,” Estes-Taylor said.

Third-ranked Duke leads the tournament for the second day at seven-over with 575.  Fourteenth-ranked Vanderbilt is second with 583, followed by No. 13 South Carolina with 590, No. 29 North Carolina with 592 and No. 21 LSU with 593 rounding out the top five.

The rest of the field includes No. 5 Oklahoma in sixth with 594 followed by the Razorbacks with 597, No. 28 Virginia and No. 8 Alabama are tied for eighth overall with 599, No. 7 Stanford carded 600, No. 20 Wake Forest with 601, Tennessee with 604, No. 24 Kentucky and No. 25 Auburn wit 606, No. 6 Arizona State and Furman with 610 and No. 48 Georgia rounds out the field with 612.
