FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas softball team begins this week’s four-game slate with a Wednesday road game at No. 20 Tulsa. First pitch of the midweek matchup is scheduled for a 5 p.m. (CT) start at the Collins Family Complex on the TU campus. Winners of 17 of their last 19 games, the Razorbacks enter the game with a 19-5 overall record. Wednesday’s game is the team’s last non-conference game before the start of its SEC season.

Arkansas and Tulsa have played 23 times with the Razorbacks holding a 12-11 advantage in the all-time series. Each team owns a winning record on its respective home field with the Golden Hurricane winning five of the seven games played in Tulsa. Arkansas’ last road win in the series came during the 2010 season, a 3-1 victory in game two of a doubleheader. The teams last met in 2013, splitting a pair of games in Tallahassee, Fla. Arkansas and Tulsa are scheduled for a second meeting this season on April 9 in Fayetteville.

For the second time this season and first time since the preseason releases, Arkansas is receiving votes in both ESPN.com/USA Softball and USA Today/NFCA national polls. Tulsa is ranked No. 20 in both polls and is the third ranked opponent for the Razorbacks this season. Wednesday’s game is the first of four games against ranked opponents this week with the Razorbacks also hosting No. 2/4 Tennessee this weekend at Bogle Park.

With Monday’s initial release of NCAA statistics, Arkansas is the top-scoring team in the country at 9.29 runs per game and ranks third overall with the team’s .355 batting average and .595 slugging percentage. Individually, junior Devon Wallace is second in the nation with 28 walks. Entering the week, the Razorbacks led the SEC in batting average, on-base percentage, runs scored, hits, RBI, triples, total bases and walks. Arkansas’ offense will face a Tulsa pitching staff that owns a 0.98 ERA, good for the fourth-best mark in the NCAA.

Senior Clarisa Navarro leads the Razorbacks with a .403 batting average while sophomore Stephanie Canfield has a team-high 28 hits. Navarro and junior Kasey Fagan are tied for the team lead with 26 RBI. Fagan also leads the team with 29 runs scored while Wallace has a team-best five home runs and is one of four Razorbacks with at least four long balls. Freshman Grace Moll earned her eighth win of the season last weekend and has a staff-leading 44 strikeouts.

In its last outing, Arkansas capped an undefeated run through the Razorback Invitational with a 13-5 victory over Mississippi Valley State. During the four-game weekend, the Razorbacks outscored the opposition by a combined score of 46-12 including a program-record tying 20 runs against MVSU in the first of two games between the two teams. Wallace led the team with a .700 batting average (7-for-10) with a home run, seven RBI and seven runs scored. Fifteen of the team’s 42 hits during the weekend went for extra bases. Conversely, the Razorback pitching staff did not allow an extra-base hit in four games.
