@RazorbackBSB Opens SEC Schedule At Florida

FAYETTEVILLE - The Arkansas baseball team travels to Gainesville, Fla., this weekend to take on the Florida Gators in the first SEC series of 2014 for both teams. Game times are set for 6 p.m. CT on Friday and Saturday and noon Sunday.

All three games will be televised, with the series opener on Sun Sports and the final two games on Fox Sports Florida. A live stream will also be available to RazorVision subscribers here.

The pitching matchups are projected to feature LHP Jalen Beeks (3-1, 0.68) against RHP Logan Shore (0-1, 0.45) on Friday, RHP Trey Killian (0-2, 4.66) against RHP Eric Hanhold (2-1, 2.63) on Saturday and RHP Chris Oliver (1-2, 2.45) against LHP A.J. Puk (1-1, 3.75) on Sunday.

  • This weekend features the first three of 19 scheduled TV games for Arkansas during the 2014 regular season. Arkansas is slated to appear on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, Sun Sports, Fox Sports Florida, Fox Sports Net, CST and CSS this year.
  • The Razorbacks’ relief pitchers have thrown 30.2 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run, a streak that stretches back to the eighth inning of the Feb. 22 game vs. Eastern Illinois.
  • Arkansas will have flown 6,398 miles in the past two weekends when the team returns from Gainesville. The Razorbacks flew from Northwest Arkansas to Chicago O’Hare and then to San Francisco with the return flight from the Cal Baseball Classic also going through O’Hare. This weekend, the Razorbacks are flying direct to Gainesville and when they land will have been in three different time zones in four days.
  • Arkansas has won at least one game in 17 straight SEC series dating back to 2011.
  • The Razorbacks have scored first in all eight of their wins and are 8-0 when holding a lead after the seventh inning and 7-0 when leading after six.
  • Arkansas ranks 3rd in the SEC and 18th in the NCAA in hit by pitch with 26 so far this season. Last season, the Razorbacks were hit by 36 pitches in 61 games. The school record for hit by pitches is 107 in 64 games in 2007.
  • Arkansas is averaging 7,504 fans per game this season, which ranks 2nd in the NCAA. Arkansas has ranked in the top five nationally in average attendance each of the last nine years.
  • The Razorbacks have outscored their opponents 74-35 this season. The 35 runs allowed are the second-lowest total through 13 games under Coach Van Horn. Arkansas has scored at least 70 runs in the first 13 games every season under Coach Van Horn.
  • 16 Razorbacks have made their Arkansas debut in 2014. Arkansas entered the season with 27 student-athletes who had not appeared in a game for Arkansas, the highest number in the SEC.
