FAYETTEVILLE – David Beall was named Assistant Communications Director at the University of Arkansas athletics department on Thursday and will serve as the primary communications contact for baseball and assist with football.
Beall comes to Arkansas after spending the last nine months as an Assistant Director of Media Relations at Mercer University. He served as the primary contact for the football program that set an NCAA record for wins by a first-year program in 2013. During the historic run, Beall’s social media strategy and promotion platform put Mercer football on the map nationwide and provided maximum exposure as the program had two finalists for the biggest awards at the FCS level.
Beall served as the department’s primary graphic designer and helped brand the Mercer image with infographics and consistency across all social media platforms. He became the designer and editor of the football game program and spearheaded a campaign for promotion and media coverage during the program’s first National Signing Day on Feb. 5, 2014.
Prior to Mercer, Beall spent one year at USC Upstate, serving as the primary contact for men's basketball and baseball, while implementing a social media initiative that expanded the department's visibility across the country at the Mid-Major level.
During his year with the Spartans, Beall covered and promoted men's basketball standout Torrey Craig as he captured the Atlantic Sun Conference scoring title in consecutive seasons, becoming just the second player in league history to do so.
Before his days at Upstate, Beall spent five years at the University of North Georgia as the Director of the Sports Communications office, including the last two years as an Assistant Athletic Director. During his time at North Georgia, he was in charge of covering and promoting all 12 NCAA Division II sports competing in the Peach Belt Conference.
He was instrumental in designing a new athletic website through the PrestoSports network and implemented live video broadcasts for men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, baseball and softball.
Beall received the Easton Incorporated Media Guide Cover of the Year award in 2009 for the North Georgia softball team as the Saints made their first of three-straight trips to the College World Series.
He served as the media host for four-straight NCAA Division II Southeast Softball Regionals and Super Regionals, and was the coordinator for the 2012 Daktronics Women’s Basketball Division II Southeast All-Region team.
The Alpharetta, Ga., native also worked with Atlanta based Sports Radio 680 The Fan (ESPN radio) from 2004-2006. His duties included assisting in producing the popular afternoon talk show “Buck and Kincade” throughout the summer of 2004.
During his tenure with ESPN radio, he was also the station's game day reporter for the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, Georgia Tech football and basketball, and University of Georgia football. He conducted interviews with players and coaches that aired daily on 680 The Fan.
Beall worked as the head sports writer at The Dahlonega Nugget during the summer of 2007 writing, editing, and designing the sports section on a weekly basis, while covering the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons and local high school sports.
Beall graduated from the University of North Georgia in the spring of 2008 with a degree in Business Administration. He was also a member of the UNG cross country team for three seasons and served as team captain for two years.
