FAYETTEVILLE – The No. 15 University of Arkansas gymnastics team will compete in Session I of the 2014 Southeastern Conference Championship as the No. 6 seed on Saturday, March 22, in Birmingham, Ala., at the Birmingham-Jefferson convention Complex. Session I is slated for a 2:05 p.m. start.

“We are excited to compete in the SEC Championship this weekend,” co-head coach Mark Cook said. “Our objective is to go into the meet and win our session. This is a fantastic meet and just as exciting if not more than the National Championships.”

Session I of the SEC Championship will feature seeds No. 5 through No. 8 in the conference. No. 12 Auburn is the 5th seeded team, Kentucky as the No. 7 seed and Missouri as the No. 8 seed. The seeds for the meet are based on the final Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) which were released Monday morning.

The Razorbacks will begin the meet on the bars and then follow Olympic order for the final three rotations before finishing on the vault. Auburn will begin the meet on vault, Kentucky will begin on the beam and Missouri on the floor.

Session II of the meet will feature the top four seeds in the conference in No. 1 Florida, No. 2 LSU, No. 4 Alabama and No. 6 Georgia. The second session of the meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. At the conclusion of both sessions, the league will honor the top finishers for each of the four events and the All-SEC teams will be announced.

After the SEC Championship, the Razorbacks will continue post-season action by hosting the 2014 NCAA Fayetteville Regional in Barnhill Arena on Saturday, April 5, at 4 p.m. The NCAA Gymnastics selection show which will determine the five other teams and individual competitors to take part in the regional will air on www.NCAA.com on Monday, March 24, at 3 p.m.
