Player of the Week:

Jake Wise - C - 6-0 - 200 - Houston, Texas

Notes: Jake Wise hit .500 with one home run, one double and one run scored during Arkansas' SEC-opening weekend at Florida. The senior team captain launched his first homer of the season over the left field wall leading off the second inning of the Razorbacks' 9-3 win Sunday. Wise added a double in his next at bat for his first game with multiple extra-base hits this season. He had two multi-hit games in the series and recorded at least one hit in all three games. His .900 slugging percentage from the weekend is tied for first in SEC play, his .500 batting average is tied for third, his nine total bases and five hits are tied for fourth and his .545 on-base percentage is tied for fifth. Wise also picked a runner off first base during Saturday's game for his SEC-leading third pickoff of 2014 and ended another inning of the game throwing out a runner trying to steal second.

Pitcher of the Week:

Michael Gunn - RHP - 6-0 - 205 - Wilson, Ark.

Notes: Michael Gunn worked 4.0 shutout innings with three strikeouts and only allowed one hit over two appearances at Florida. He earned the save in Sunday's 9-3 win after pitching the final 3.0 innings without allowing a run and finished off Friday's game with two strikeouts in a perfect eighth inning. The Gators batted just .077 against him, which has him tied for first in opponent batting average from the weekend. Gunn finished two out of three games in the first SEC series of 2014 and is tied for first in the conference with two games finished during the weekend.

Freshman of the Week:

Zach Jackson - RHP - 6-3 - 195 - Berryhill, Okla.

Notes: Zach Jackson continued an impressive start to his true freshman campaign in his first SEC appearance after being called on with two outs and runners on second and third in the fifth inning of Friday's series opener. He needed only four pitches to record a swinging strikeout and get out of the jam. The Berryhill, Okla., native scattered three hits over the next two innings and ended another Gator threat in the seventh with a strikeout looking on a 3-2 pitch and runners on second and third. His work stretched a streak of Arkansas' relief pitchers not allowing an earned run to 33.0 innings, a run that would reach 35.0 innings before being snapped in Sunday's game. Individually, Jackson has not allowed an earned run in 14.2 innings pitched this season.

Team Notes:

  • Arkansas is 9-0 this season when scoring first.
  • The Razorbacks have protected leads all season and are 8-0 when leading after six innings and 9-0 when leading after seven.
  • Arkansas has won at least one game in 18 straight SEC series, a streak that stretches back to 2012.
  • The Razorbacks have been hit by 30 pitches this season with at least one hit by pitch in 13 of 16 games and multiple hit by pitches in eight games. Michael Bernal took his team-leading sixth hit by pitch during Saturday night's game, and during Sunday's game Bobby Wernes was hit by a pitch in the third inning and Brian Anderson was plunked in the ninth.
  • The Razorbacks' relief pitchers had a streak of 35.0 innings without allowing an earned run snapped in the fourth inning of Sunday's game. Prior to Sunday, Arkansas' bullpen had not allowed an earned run since Feb. 22 vs. Eastern Illinois.
  • Jake Wise recorded his SEC-leading third pickoff of the season in the fifth inning Saturday when he threw out a runner on first base.
  • Jake Wise hit his first home run since May 3, 2013, leading off the second inning Sunday. It was the first home run allowed by Florida since Feb. 23 at Miami, a span of 11 games, and the Gators' first home run allowed at home since opening weekend.
  • Trey Killian threw his first collegiate complete game Saturday with a career-long 8.0 innings pitched. It was the second Arkansas complete game in as many weekends after the Razorbacks hadn't thrown a complete game since June 5, 2011.
  • Trey Killian had a season-high six strikeouts Saturday, the third time in his career he has struck out at least six in one game.
  • Trey Killian threw 77 strikes on 104 pitches Saturday night, a strike percentage of 74 percent.
  • Sunday, Brian Anderson recorded three RBI in a game for the team-high third time this season.
  • Andrew Benintendi and Jake Wise each recorded at least one hit in all three games at Florida.
