FAYETTEVILLE, Ark - Men's Track and Field Assistant Coach Travis Geopfert has been voted National Assistant Coach of the Year, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. It marks the second-consecutive season Geopfert has earned the national honor.

Geopfert earned the award after guiding Jarrion Lawson to the national crown in the long jump at a world-leading 27-6½ (8.39m), Kevin Lazas to a third-place finish in the heptathlon and Anthony May to a fifth-place showing in the triple jump for 20 of Arkansas’ 54 team points.

"I'm very proud of Geopfert," said Men's Track & Field Head Coach Chris Bucknam. "He's an incredibly hard worker. All you have to do is go to practice one day and see him work with all of our athletes and you can understand why he's winning these awards. It's the second year in a row he has won the award, he's not a one-year wonder type of coach. This is a special award I'm really happy for him, it's well-deserved."

Geopfert also coached two Southeastern Conference Champions in Anthony May (high jump) and Raymond Higgs (long jump), as the Razorbacks won their second-straight SEC Indoor Title. Following the SEC Championships, Geopfert took six of his athletes to the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Following a runner-up finish at the 2014 NCAA Indoor National Championships, the Razorbacks kick off the outdoor season March 26-29 at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.
