FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The day after celebrating their first postseason win since 2008, the University of Arkansas basketball team invites you to join them at the 2014 Arkansas Razorback Basketball Banquet, presented by First Security, on Wednesday, April 16, 2014.

In their 29th 20 plus win season, the Razorbacks proved that head coach Mike Anderson is returning Hog Ball to Fayetteville. Arkansas won three SEC road games for the first time since 2005-06 and finished with nine wins in their last 12 games.

The Razorbacks enjoyed their most successful February since the Nolan Richardson era, starting the month 2-5 but ending on a 6-2 hot streak to finish 8-7 and just from 12th to a tie for 5th in conference standings. Picked to finish 8th preseason, Arkansas improved their seed by two or more places for the second consecutive year.

Freshman Bobby Portis, three-time SEC Freshman of the Week, was named to the All-Conference second team and All-Freshman team last week, as well as the USBWA All-District VI team. Portis enters the postseason averaging 12.4 points and 6.6 rebounds, ranking second and first on the team, respectively. The 6-foot-10 forward has reached double figures in 21 games with a team-best four double-doubles and is the only Razorback to start all 33 games.

Ticket sales for the Basketball Banquet opened today, with both individual tickets and full tables available for purchase. Single tickets run $25 each and a ten-seat table will cost $250. Tickets can be purchased through ArkansasRazorbacks.com through the ticket header.

The event will be held in Bud Walton Arena, with doors opening at 6:30 and banquet beginning at 7 p.m.

After their 91-71 victory over Indiana State in Bud Walton Arena, Arkansas will face the winner of Cal/Utah Valley State in the second round of NIT action. The Razorbacks dropped a game to Cal at the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational earlier this fall and are 1-1 against the Golden Bears all time. Arkansas has only faced Utah Valley State once previously, when a Mike Anderson coached team won a 67-59 contest at home in 2011-12.
