SHERWOOD, Ark. – Behind a complete-game shutout from Kasey Fagan and a three-run homer off the bat of Devon Wallace, the University of Arkansas softball team posted a 4-0 win over Memphis Wednesday night. With the victory, the Razorbacks improve to 21-8 on the season. The game was played in front of 923 fans in Sherwood, Ark.

Fagan held Memphis (13-14) to just two hits, struck out three and worked four 1-2-3 innings on her way to improving to 4-1 in the circle. The Tigers had runners on first and third with two outs in the fourth but Fagan got out of the jam with a ground ball to Chloe Oprzedek at third. After giving up a lead-off double in the seventh, the Razorback starter retired the next three to end the game. Wednesday’s performance marks her first shutout of the season and third complete game.

Clarisa Navarro scored the first run of the game, scoring from third on a wild pitch in the fourth inning. The advantage remained one run until Wallace sent her seventh home run of the season beyond the fence in right center, plating Parker Pocklington and pinch runner Ashley Martindale on the play. At the top of the line, Fagan and Wallace both recorded two hits. It was Wallace’s fifth game of the season with three RBI.

With Wednesday’s game in the books, the Razorbacks next travel to Oxford, Miss., to continue its week-long road trip. Arkansas and Ole Miss begin a weekend series Friday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. Sunday’s game three of the SEC series will be televised by FSN at 3 p.m. (CT). The third stop of the Razorbacks’ trip is a Tuesday doubleheader at Jackson State.
