FAYETTEVILLE -- The No. 46 University of Arkansas women's tennis team captured a dramatic doubles point and the early lead against No. 32 Ole Miss, but it was not enough as the Rebels came back and earned a 4-2 win from the Razorbacks in Fayetteville, Ark., on Friday.

The Razorbacks (8-10, 1-6 SEC) began the day in energized fashion on the courts of the George M. Billingsley Tennis Center. After trailing 2-5 on all three doubles courts, UA rallied and brought itself back within striking distance. Ole Miss (9-5, 3-4 SEC) staved off early momentum and captured court three with an 8-6 victory, but the doubles point would be decided by tiebreak on the final two courts.

It was then that Kimberley - Ann Surin and Flavia Araujo responded by cruising to a 7-2 victory in the tiebreak at No. 2 doubles to draw the doubles point back to a 1-1 split. It was the first win in doubles for both Razorbacks this SEC season and the sixth total for Surin.

Yang Pang and Oleksandra Shkorupeieva finished off the rally, pulling out a win at No. 1 doubles winning the tiebreak 9-7. For Shkorupeieva, it marked a team-leading eighth win of the season in doubles play. Pang earned her seventh win in doubles and second in conference play.

The comeback win marked the first time this season the Razorbacks won the doubles point in conference play and the fifth time in all.

Pang carried the momentum from her effort in doubles play to earn her second singles win this SEC season, defeating Zalina Khairudinova in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Having now won two straight matches in singles play, the Nanjing, China, native also locked up her seventh win of the season playing exclusively at No. 1 singles.

After the Razorbacks cut the dual match lead to 3-2, Shannon Hudson was battling and in position to make the push for a decisive team point at No. 2 singles against No. 124 Carolina Rohde-Moe. It would not be needed, however, as Hudson's match would go unfinished and the Rebels clinched a 4-2 victory with Iris Verboven winning at No. 6 singles.

"No question about it, we had our opportunities out here today," head coach Michael Hegarty said. "Hats off to Ole Miss for being the tougher team when the critical moments occurred on the singles courts."

The Razorbacks have two more chances at wins this weekend, hosting two more dual matches on Sunday beginning with No. 69 Mississippi State at 1 p.m. and then Oral Roberts at 6 p.m.
