OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Arkansas softball team lost an 11-4 decision Friday night at Ole Miss in its Southeastern Conference (SEC) road opener. Kasey Fagan and Devon Wallace accounted for the team’s offense with home runs in the third and sixth innings, respectively. The Razorbacks are now 21-9 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

The weekend series resumes Saturday at 2 p.m. (CT) at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. Sunday’s finale will be televised by FSN with a scheduled start time of 3 p.m. Dave Baker and Cheri Kempf will hand the play-by-play and color commentary duties, respectively.

Facing an early hole after four first-inning runs by Ole Miss (18-13, 2-5 SEC), Fagan lofted a three-run homer over the fence in center field in the third inning to bring the Razorbacks to within one. After a triple by Chloe Oprzedek and walk to Wallace, Fagan came to the plate with two outs and responded with her sixth home run of the season. She is the first Razorback with 30 RBI this season. Wallace added Arkansas’ fourth run with a solo shot in the sixth frame.

Amanda Geile reached base twice with a third-inning single and fifth-inning walk while Jennifer Rambo also recorded a hit against the Rebels. Kelly Young, Friday’s starter, took the loss in the circle to drop to 2-1 on the season. Ole Miss hit four home runs on its way to the series-opening win and got a complete-game effort from starter Carly Hummel.
