No. 3 Razorbacks Host John McDonnell Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas men's track and field team will host the John McDonnell Invitational this weekend, April 11-12.

The No. 3 Razorbacks welcome Arkansas Baptist, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, South Dakota and Tulsa to John McDonnell Field for the two-day event. Competition will begin Friday afternoon with javelin and hammer throw, picking back up on Saturday with pole vault at 2:30 p.m. Running events are set to begin Saturday at 5 p.m.

Arkansas is coming off the Arkansas Spring Invitational, where the Razorbacks earned three event titles in their first home outdoor meet of the season. Following the weekend, the Razorbacks rank at No. 3 in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll.

Pete Mirocke recorded a personal-best performance in javelin at the Spring Invitational with a mark of 216-9 to win the event. The victory moved Mirocke into the all-time top-ten list at Arkansas, ranking No. 7 in school history. Tomas Squella (3:48.73) and Andrew Pisechko (3:49.20) earned a 1-2 finish in the 1,500-meter run, with Pisechko setting a new PR. Devin Randall also enters this weekend on the heels of a personal-best performance in discus with a mark of 170-1, the seventh-best mark in school history. Andrew Irwin won the pole vault competition with a mark of 17-0.75 for the team's third title last weekend.
