WALNUT, Calif. – The men’s track and field team’s trip to California was highlighted by some key performances at the elite Mt. SAC Relays. The three-day meet showcases some of the most talented athletes in the world, both on the collegiate and professional level.

Jarrion Lawson had a huge performance in the long jump, winning the event with a second-best outdoor career jump of 25-9.25. The mark ranks the sophomore No. 3 in the NCAA this season and second in the SEC. It was Lawson’s first long jump competition since winning the event at the 2014 NCAA Indoor National Championships.

Patrick Rono raced against some of the top distance runners in the world, both collegiate and professional, finishing sixth with an outdoor personal-best time of 3:46.11. The time enters Rono into the SEC top-five, sitting at No. 4 in the conference top-times.

Omar McLeod completed his first outdoor competition of the season, his effort of 51.79 in the 400-meter hurdles earned the freshman a third-place overall finish and the team’s fastest time this season. It also places McLeod seventh in the SEC so far this season.

The men’s 4x400-meter relay team of Eric Janise, Travis Southard, Neil Braddy and Lawson earned a season-best time of 3:10.27 to pick up the victory for Arkansas. Janise moved in to challenge the leaders on the first leg, as Southard brought the Razorbacks into first place on the second leg, handing off to Braddy who maintained a comfortable lead. Lawson finished strong for the win and the ninth-best time in the SEC this season.
