FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The fourth-ranked University of Arkansas women’s golf team began the postseason last weekend with a third-place finish at the SEC Championship in Birmingham, Ala.  The Razorbacks now await the NCAA selection process before specific preparations for the Regional Championship can begin.

Selections will be announced live via the Golf Channel Monday, April 28, during Golf Central which will air that evening from 5 to 6 p.m., Central time. Additionally, the show will be streamed live on the Golf Channel website and posted afterwards on the NCAA website at www.ncaa.com.  The selections news release will also be available on www.ncaa.com.

This year the three regional sites are Tallahassee, Fla., in the East with Florida State hosting. Oklahoma State University and Karsten Creek Golf Club will host the NCAA Central Regional Championship and the University Washington will host the West Regional Championship at Tumble Creek at Suncadia Resort. The top eight teams from each of the three regional championships will advance to the NCAA Championship Finals at the Tulsa Country Club hosted by the University of Tulsa.

“It is exciting to wait and see where you might get sent,” Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said.  “We are guessing that based on our current ranking, we will stay home in the central region and be sent to Oklahoma State. That is a great opportunity for a lot of our fans and friends to come and watch us play.”

The Razorbacks are in the midst of a more-than-solid season, reaching a program-best fourth-place ranking this spring.   And although a Regional title might be in sight, the goal is to finish in the top eight and move on.

“We go into every tournament with the mindset that we are here to win it,” Estes-Taylor said. “We know that our best is good enough and if we can give our best, the results will take again of themselves.”

The Razorbacks have made 12 NCAA Regional appearances in 19 seasons, including 11 in a row.  Last season the Razorbacks posted a program-best finish tying for third in the NCAA East Regional thanks, in part, to a five-under 283 in the final round.  Four of Arkansas’ traveling five were on that squad and all are eagerly anticipating the next challenge.

Expected to travel are seniors Emily Tubert and Emma Lavy, sophomores Gabriela Lopez and Regina Plasencia freshman Summar Roachell.

Check ArkansasRazorbacks.com Monday for a complete story on the selections.  For more information on Arkansas women’s golf, follow @RazorbackWGolf on Twitter.
