FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas’ Johan den Toom was named to the 2014 SEC All-Freshman team, it was announced Thursday.

Den Toom’s selection marks the first time a Razorback has received any postseason league honors since Chris Nott was named to the All-SEC Second Team in 2011. Den Toom, a two-time SEC Freshman of the Week, is joined by seven other freshman from six other programs on this year’s team.

Consistency was a key part of den Toom’s freshman campaign, as he spent the majority of the spring playing at the No. 5 singles position. He was able to record 12 wins, including two four-match win streaks at different times during the season. Den Toom led the team in SEC singles victories at five and finished 2014 at 7-2 in home matches.

Den Toom spent most of 2014 as part of the Razorbacks’ doubles lineup as well, as part of four different pairs and seeing playing time at all three positions.

The Razorbacks finished 2014 with a 13-16 record that included three league wins, the first time Arkansas has won more than two SEC contests since 2008. In its first year under head coach Andy Jackson, Arkansas recorded a victory over No. 15 Florida, the first top 15 win since 2006, as well as No. 33 Alabama and LSU.
