FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas women’s golf coach Shauna Estes-Taylor earned Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year honors, and Emily Tubert, Gabriela Lopez and Regina Plasencia were also honored, the league announced today.

It is the first coach of the year award for Estes-Taylor and for the women’s golf program. Razorback men’s golf coach Brad McMakin earned SEC Coach of the Year in 2009 while Steve Loy was Southwest Conference Coach of the Year in 1984.

Estes-Taylor has helped the program to new heights including a program-best No. 4 ranking in the Golfstat.com poll.  The Razorbacks tied a program-best with three team tournament titles this season and have finished in the top five in seven of nine tournaments.

In addition, Estes-Taylor has guided Arkansas to the program’s 13th NCAA Regional appearance, the 12th consecutive selection during her tenure as either the assistant or head coach.

Tubert and Lopez were both selected to the All-SEC First-Team.  It is the fourth consecutive first-team honor for the Burbank, Calif., native as Tubert joins former Razorback and current LPGA star Stacy Lewis as the only four-time selections.  Tubert is second on the team with a 72.83 stroke average and has one tournament title this year and six in her Razorback career.

Sophomore Lopez is making her second appearance on the all-conference team and her first on the first-team.  She was a member of the SEC All-Freshman Team and the All-SEC Second Team in 2013.  Lopez leads the team with a 71.45 stroke average and has led the SEC for much of the season. She has a pair of wins this season and three individual titles for her Razorback career.

Sophomore Regina Plasencia earned her second All-SEC honor as well and was selected to the second-team.  She was a member of the SEC All-Freshman Team last season.  Plasencia was Arkansas’ top finisher in the fall and wrapped up her second season with a 73.58 stroke average.

The Razorbacks will take part in the NCAA Central Regional Championship May 8-10, at Karsten Creek in Stillwater, Okla.  Arkansas enters the event as the No. 2 seed overall behind top-seeded UCLA.  The rest of the field in order of seeding includes No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 Arizona, No. 5 LSU, No. 6 Oklahoma State, No. 7 Florida, No. 8 North Carolina, No. 9 Ohio State, No. 10 Miami (Fla.), No. 11 Mississippi State, No. 12 California, No. 13 Kent State, No. 14 Kansas, No. 15 Texas, No. 16 UNLV, No. 17 Colorado, No. 18 SMU, No. 19 Minnesota, No. 20 Harvard, No. 21 Lamar, No. 22 Wichita State, No. 23 LIU-Brooklyn and No. 24 Siena.

The top eight teams from each of the three NCAA Regional sites advance to the NCAA Championship in Tulsa, Okla., later this month.
