FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Senior Hall Fess was named the ITA central region’s recipient of the 2014 Arthur Ashe Jr., Sportsmanship and Leadership award, announced Wednesday by the ITA.

This honor comes on the heels of two others for Fess; he represents the University of Arkansas as its male nominee for the 2014 H. Boyd McWhorter award and he was recently named to the 2014 SEC Community Service team. Fess was also a member of the 2013 SEC Community Service team.

A 10-semester member of either the Chancellor’s or Dean’s list, Fess graduated cum laude with a degree in Supply Chain Management and double minors in Economics and German this past weekend. He plans to spend two years with Teach For America in Western Arkansas then continue his academics at the University of Arkansas, dual enrolling in the MBA program and the Clinton School of Public Service.

Fess was actively involved in the Fayetteville community, working with groups including Potter’s House, Feed Fayetteville and volunteering with Sweat Hawgs programs in elementary schools across the area.

Fess led the Razorbacks in doubles victories this spring, notching 18 with partner Pete Thomason at the No. 2 doubles position. These included key victories that helped Arkansas knock off No. 15 Florida, No. 33 Alabama and LSU at home on senior day.

As a regional winner of the award, Fess is among 12 student-athletes from across the country nominated for the national Arthur Ashe award, to be announced Tuesday, May 20. A full list of 2014 ITA regional awards winners can be found here.
