HOOVER, Ala. - For standing out on and off the field, junior outfielder Tyler Spoon has been named to the 2014 SEC Baseball Community Service Team as announced by the league office Tuesday morning.

The SEC supports a Community Service Team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his community in superior service efforts.

Spoon has organized numerous community service projects in Arkansas, including "Christmas with the Omahogs" to raise money for Christmas gifts for children at Leverette Elementary School. He is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and has spoken to high school ministries and churches through Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

The Van Buren, Ark., native is hitting .272 on the year with 11 doubles, three home runs and 35 runs batted for the Razorbacks in 2014. He has played and started in 55 games and has a .991 fielding percentage with 10 assists from the outfield.

Spoon and the 20th-ranked Razorbacks open play in the SEC Tournament Tuesday afternoon, taking on Texas A&M in Hoover, Ala.
