FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Fresh off a 2014 Southeastern Conference Championship, the University of Arkansas women's track and field team remains steady at the No. 8 spot in the nation, as announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Texas moves into the No. 1 spot in the nation this week, bumping Florida down a spot to No. 2. Oregon and Texas A&M remain steady at No. 4 and 5, respectively, followed by SEC foes No. 6 Kentucky and No. 7 LSU. No. 8 Arkansas marks the fifth SEC ranked in the top eight. The No. 8 Razorbacks won their first SEC Outdoor Championship since 2004 this weekend, collecting 123 points to claim their title. A 1-2-3-7 finish in pole vault by Sandi Morris, Danielle Nowell, Ariel Voskamp and Megan Zimlich gave Arkansas the push they needed to claim the No. 1 spot heading into Championship Sunday. Another 1-2-3 finish for the Razorbacks, this time in the 5,000-meter by Diane Robison, Dominique Scott and Grace Heymsfield, clinched the title for the Razorbacks. Heymsfield also added 10 points on Saturday, defending her steeplchase title to earn the gold medal for the second-consecutive year.

Arkansas is gearing up to host the 2014 NCAA West Preliminary next weekend, May 29-31, at John McDonnell Field. For more information on the event, click here.
