– University of Arkansas volleyball head coach Robert Pulliza
has announced the signing of Chanell Clark-Bibbs to the program’s 2014 recruiting class. Clark-Bibbs spent the first two seasons of her collegiate career at Georgia Tech and comes to Arkansas as a junior. With their most recent addition, the Razorbacks will welcome nine newcomers to Fayetteville ahead of the 2014 season.
Clark-Bibbs was named to the 2012 ACC All-Freshman and 2013 Preseason All-ACC Teams. She also earned a spot on the 2013 USA Junior National Team that competed at the FIVB U20 World Championships last summer in the Czech Republic. Out of high school, Clark-Bibbs was the No. 25 recruit in the country according to PrepVolleyball, placed on Fab 50 recruit list by Volleyball Magazine and named a top-100 senior by ESPN.
The Houston, Texas, native totaled 346 kills at Georgia Tech including 229 kills during her sophomore campaign. She led the team in service aces (39) during the 2013 season and finished second in the ACC (27) during league play. Clark-Bibbs joins the Razorbacks with career highs of 16 kills, six total blocks and five service aces. She also added Georgia Tech Courtyard Classic All-Tournament honors in 2013.
Clark-Bibbs joins Arkansas’ 2014 recruiting class that includes Sophie Bethke, Corinne Gajcak, Bailee Hankenson, Holly Hankenson, Shelby Harper, Krista Kolbinskie, Kori Ortiz and Sam Skinner. With Clark-Bibbs, the Razorbacks will have seven PrepVolleyball Top-100 recruits on the 2014 roster. That list also features Bethke, Harper, Liz Fortado
, Danielle Harbin
, Breana Jones
and Ana Sofia Jusino
Arkansas is building on the momentum of consecutive top-30 recruiting class rankings. Last year’s No. 16 ranking was the highest among SEC teams and the best ranking in program history, replacing the No. 26 ranking from the previous year. The Razorbacks return 11 players from the 2013 team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Among the returners is senior All-American Meredith Hays
The Razorbacks are currently in the middle of a European tour that will take the team to four countries during the 13-day trip. Arkansas will spend the next week in Split, Croatia—hometown of sophomore Barbara Dapic
—and Prague, Czech Republic. Follow the team’s progress in Europe through the #EuroHogs central page on ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
