FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - With a full week of practice behind them, the Arkansas women's track and field team is reading to board the plance to Eugene, Ore. on Sunday for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Head coach Lance Harter talks about the team's outlook as they compete for a National Title.

Now that a full week of practice leading up to nationals is behind you, how is the team looking as a whole?
With a full week of practice under our belt between the 2014 West Preliminary and NCAA Outdoor Championships, we are in a really good spot. The team is healthy, motivated and has a positive outlook on the week to come. To have everyone healthy at this point in the year is key. This week’s practice emphasized what a strong team we are and what we are capable of heading to Eugene.

Arkansas is competing in Eugene with the second-highest amount of entries in the nation, what does that do for your mindset heading into the national meet?
Obviously that is a nice confidence boost to have such a large competitor list going into the Outdoor Championships. That doesn’t necessarily guarantee success but it helps the odds be a little bit more in your favor. I think the team spirit continues to escalate when you have a large squad.

There is a lot of momentum with the Razorbacks heading out of the NCAA west preliminary, how did that momentum continue going through the full week of practice before the national meet?
The momentum on the week has continued to escalate daily. We have received a lot of attention from our local media and we have received a lot of attention from our fans after witnessing the West Preliminary. That was a positive experience for all of us. I think everything is thumbs up and we’re excited to get on the plane Sunday and head west.

Arkansas is known for their NCAA Championship appearance, how does that reputation effect the mindset of the athletes heading into next week?
This is the meet that we’ve focused on since we built the schedule last year. We’ve been fortune to have always had a presence at the NCAA Championships and a highly visible one at that. I think that legacy continues to be reinforced year in and year out. I think when you come to Arkansas, your expectation is that eventually you want to the national meet and compete to your best ability and realize your dreams. The formation of the team is each one of those individual dreams coming true. As coaches we witness this and we’re a part of it, but the real pleasure is to watch them experience something they have dreamed of come true.

He's had a spotlight on him recently, talk about Bryan Compton & the success of his crew right now.
Coach Compton has had an absolutely glorious season, and this is somewhat a continuation of his previous season. Coach Compton doesn’t draw a lot of attention to himself, he’d rather expend that energy and focus on the athlete. This year he has nine entries and has them across so many events, basically covering all of the field events. To have that visibility and participation by that crew, he’s excited and we’re excited for him.

The 2014 NCAA Outdoor Championships will take place June 11-14 in Eugene, Ore. For more information on Razorback Track and Field, follow @RazorbackTF on Twitter.
