FAYETTEVILLE - Junior left-handed pitcher Michael Gunn was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 16th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Saturday.

Gunn, who was the 494th overall pick, joins teammate Jalen Beeks who was also drafted by the Red Sox in the 12th round earlier in the day. Brian Anderson (76 overall, Miami) and Chris Oliver (112 overall, Philadelphia) were selected on day two of the draft, giving Arkansas four total selections in the 2014 MLB Draft.

A native of Wilson, Ark., Gunn posted the lowest earned run average for the Razorbacks last season at 0.74, allowing just three earned runs in 36.2 innings of relief work. He made a team-high 28 appearances from the bullpen and posted a 4-2 record.

He recorded 35 strikeouts and added a team-best seven saves on the year. Gunn allowed 21 hits on the season and opponents hit .165 against the left hander.

Gunn shined in his final six appearances of the year, working 10.0 innings without giving up a run, while striking out seven and allowing just one extra base hit. He pitched 4.1 innings in the NCAA Regional and allowed just two hits, while striking out four.
