FAYETTEVILLE – Kicking off a trio of personal-bests for the Razorback women Friday at the USA Championships, Sandi Morris posted a final clearance of 4.55m/14-11 to finish in second place in the pole vault. On the track, Stephanie Brown and Taylor Ellis-Watson each ran lifetime-best times to advance to the finals at 1,500 and 400 meters, respectively.

Morris cleared the first three heights of the competition without a miss to secure a spot in the top two along with eventual winner and American record holder Jenn Suhr. Morris’ effort equals the No. 2 clearance in program history originally set by former Razorback All-American Tina Sutej during the 2011 season. Morris improved upon her previous best of 14-9 which she cleared in winning the SEC outdoor title in May.

In her opening race of the weekend, Brown crossed the finish line in 4:11.06 to grab the final qualifying spot into Sunday’s final at 1,500 meters. She finished sixth in the first of two heats. With her latest run, Brown improves upon her previous best of 4:11.40 which she ran at the Mt. SAC Relays in April. The finish also lowered her No. 3 time in program history. The final of the 1,500 meters will be run Sunday at 4:39 p.m. (CT).

For the third-straight race, Ellis-Watson clocked a personal best with her time of 51.92 in the semifinal heat. She qualified for Friday’s race with a time of 52.19 in the opening round Thursday. Ellis-Watson becomes the fourth sprinter in program history to run under 52 seconds, joining the short list of Jessica Cousins, Regina George and Shelise Williams. The final of the 400 meters will be run Saturday at 3:05 p.m.
