WNBA Update: Shameka Christon

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Former University of Arkansas standout Shameka Christon has helped the WNBA’s San Antonio Stars to third-place in the West 19 games into the 2014 season.

Christon, who was the SEC Player of the Year as a senior for the Razorbacks, and the Stars are 10-9 overall trailing Phoenix (12-3) and Minnesota (13-5) in the West as the league approaches the mid-point of the regular season.

This year, the nine-year WNBA veteran, is averaging 4.2 points per game and 1.6 rebounds per game.  She has played in 18 of the team’s 19 games averaged 11.6 minutes per contest.  Christon is shooting just better than 37 percent from the floor and 32 percent from long range.

For her career, Christon has played in 292 games starting 194 and has played with New York and Chicago.  She averaged 10.2 ppg, 2.9 rpg and 24.8 minutes per game in nine seasons.

Christon and the Stars continue play July 9, when they host New York.  The next week includes games against Seattle, July 11, at Phoenix July 13 and at Tulsa July 22.
