SOUTHPORT, Lancashire, UK – Former University of Arkansas standout Stacy Lewis battled bogeys all round long in day two action from Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, Lancashire, at the RICOH Women’s British Open Friday.

Lewis, the defending champion of the British Open, fired a 2-over 74 and moved into a tie for 16th after her round one 71.  She is in the clubhouse with 145.

Lewis’ scorecard was a mess for the historically solid player.  She opened with three bogeys in the first four holes starting a back-and-forth battle for the rest of the day.

The Woodlands, Texas, native rebounded with birdies on the fifth and sixth holes.  She bogeys seven and birided eight to turn 1-over for the round.  Lewis moved back to even for the round and 1-under for the tournament with a two on the par-3 12th hole – she birdied No. 12 both days.

She gave it back with a bogey on 14 and took an uncharacteristic double on the 15th when she got into the rough on the right side.  She finished strong with a par of pars and a birdie on 18.

American Mo Martin moved up one spot into the lead with back-to-back 69’s for 138.  She has a three-shot lead over second place.

Play continues through the weekend and fans can watch live on ESPN Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m.-noon.
