FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Four current, three future and one former University of Arkansas women’s golf student-athletes are in action this week in amateur events around the country.

Two future Razorbacks, Alana Uriell and Shawn Rennegarbe, are representing Arkansas at the 2014 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links this week.  The event plays 6,134 yards and is a par 72 on The Home Course.  Players compete in two rounds of stroke play before beginning match play on Wednesday.

Uriell moved into a tie for second place overall after the fog-delayed start at The Home Course in Dupont, Wash. She is in the clubhouse with a two-round 138 with rounds of 72-66.  Her six-under round was bettered only by the leader Eun Jeong Seong who played to a 64 Tuesday and is 10-under for the two rounds.

Uriell’s scorecard featured eight birdies and just two bogeys, including a streak of three in a row on holes 10, 11 and 12.

Rennagarbe posted around of 74-74=148 and is currently tied for 69th with several players still on the course.  Both Uriell and Rennagarbe will be paired up based on their stroke play finish for match play beginning tomorrow.

Former Razorback Lucy Nunn carded a 153 with rounds of 76-77 during stroke play as well.

Across the United States, current Razorbacks Gabriela Lopez, Regina Plasencia, Summar Roachell and Olivia Lavy are taking part in the 112th Women’s North & South Amateur at Pinehurst Country Club.

Lopez is tied for third in the field after opening with an even-par 71.  Lopez had two birdies and two bogeys and trails the leader by just two strokes.

Plasencia is tied for eighth overall shooting a one-over 72.  The Guadalajara, Mexico, native had a bogey, a double and two birdies in her round.

Roachell opened with a five-over 76 and Lavy posted a first round 92.  Stroke play continues for three rounds through Thursday before moving to match play.

Incoming freshman Jordy LaBarbera qualified for the USGA Women’s Amateur in a qualifier Tuesday.
