| A century ago, the Arkansas football team returned from defeating LSU and as the legend goes coach Hugo Bezdek proclaimed his team “played like a wild band of razorback hogs.” The name caught on and the scene was much the same on July 21, 2009, as the University of Arkansas’ “100 Years of Razorbacks” celebration began in downtown Fayetteville. The community-wide event was highlighted by the announcement of a year-long celebration commemorating“100 Years of Razorbacks.”Several year-long initiatives were announced by Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long. University of Arkansas Chancellor Dr. G. David Gearhart, head football coach Bobby Petrino and former head football coach and athletic director Frank Broyles also participated in the celebration’s kickoff event. Student-athletes and coaches from nearly all 19 Arkansas sports were also in attendance. | ||

FAN OF THE CENTURYWould you like season tickets for the next five years to the three sports of your choice plus other great prizes? These and other outstanding prizes await the winner of the Razorback Fan of the Century contest. Fans register at each home venues during the season, and may register each time they attend a contest. One home event will be designated as the 100 Years of the Razorback game for each sport. At the promotion moment of each sport's 100 Year event, the fan of the century for that sport will be drawn, and receive a prize from that sport. The Fan of the Year for each sport becomes eligible for the overall Razorback Fan of the Century. For more info on the prizes, click here. In sports with male and female teams competing at same events (cross country, indoor track and outdoor track), two fans are drawn, one to represent each team. Since they do not have a home event this season, the Fan of the Year for men’s and women’s golf, a special event showcasing the teams will be held to also choose the golf entrants. Fans who cannot attend home events will be represented by the 20th fan for the drawing, the CyberFan, taken exclusively from on-line entries of distant fans. No fans who entered local sport drawings will be allowed in the pool for the CyberFan. Once selected for a sport, that fan and fan family is ineligible to be selected for another sport. To enter, attend your favorite sport in Fayetteville and find the entry box. Make sure to provide a valid email address. Football only is accepting entries on-line as well as at Hog Heaven kiosks.
