Columbia, S.C.- The Arkansas softball team fell 8-7 to South Carolina in the final game of the series moving its overall record to 17-6 an 1-4 in the SEC. South Carolina improved to 18-7 and 2-1 in the SEC.
The Razorbacks started the game off well scoring five runs in the top of the second inning. Maddie Reese

were brought in off of Chloe Oprzedek
's home run over the right center field wall. After Clarisa Navarro
singled, Devon Wallace
was intentionally walked and Amanda Geile
was walked, Sierra Bronkey
hit a single bringing home Navarro and Wallace.
"We came out strong in the beginning of the game," said Head Coach Mike Larabee
. "Unfortunately we could not close the game out in the bottom of the seventh."
The Gamecocks got on the board in the bottom of the third after two singles and back to back doubles bringing home three runs and making it a 5-3 game.
The Razorbacks scored two more in the top of the fourth after a single from Navarro and Wallace walk. A wild pitch advanced both runners putting them in scoring position and after another wild pitch from South Carolina, Navarro made it home for a score. Sierra Bronkey
collected a sacrifice fly out to centerfield bringing home Hope McLemore
who was pinch running for Wallace and giving the Razorbacks the 7-3 lead.
The Gamecocks would began fighting back in the bottom of the fifth after a two run homerun from the third baseman, Childs to make the score 7-5. South Carolina scored another run in the sixth making it 7-6.
The Razorbacks could not reply to the hitting spree from the Gamecocks and only placed one runner on base in the last three innings.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Gamecocks singled putting Lackey on first base. Once again Childs blasted a homerun out of the park ending the game in walk-off fashion with an 8-7 score.
The Gamecocks end up taking the series with the 2-1 record over the Razorbacks.
Arkansas is back at home for a midweek game on Wednesday against No. 12 Missouri followed by a weekend series with No. 9 Tennessee.
"Our schedule is not going to get easier being in conference play now," said Larabee "We have to learn how to play and finish a full game."
