GREENVILLE, S.S. - University of Arkansas freshman Melissa Wolff led four players in double figures as the Razorbacks had a 73-38 win over Furman on the road Sunday.
The Razorbacks move to 9-1 on the year with Wolff dropping in a career-best 15 points. Junior Keira Peak added 12 points, 11 for Erin Gatling and 10 for Sarah Watkins.
"It was good to get out and play a game after the 10 day break," Arkansas head coach Tom Collen said. "I was able to play a lot of players and we got a road win. There are a lot of positives to take away from this for us."
Arkansas opened cold shooting 0-9 in the first five minutes of the game. The Razorbacks' only score was a pair of free throws from Quistelle Williams and Arkansas trailed 6-2 at the first media timeout.
The timeout allowed the Razorbacks to regroup and they came out finishing the half shooting 12 for 21 to wrap up the half. The Razorbacks also picked up the defensive effort forcing 15 first half Paladin turnovers and grabbing 11 steals in the first half.
Wolff led the team with nine first-half points with eight players scoring in the opening 20 minutes.
Arkansas' defense continued to be the key in the second half as they held Furman to 20 second-period points on 23 percent shooting. The Razorbacks forced a season-high 27 turnovers by Furman while shooting nearly 54 percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes.
"Our efforts were pretty solid," Collen said. "To go out on the road and get the win will continue to help us as we continue this year."
Arkansas returns home hosting Mississippi Valley State Dec. 19 and Northwestern State Dec. 21 as the season continues.
