Ryne Stanek is set to make his first start this summer for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team on Saturday in the Prospect Classic at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, N.C.
Saturday’s game is set to begin at 6:05 p.m. (CT) and will be streamed online on USABaseball.com and MLB.com. The game will also be televised by MLB Network on a tape delayed basis at 10 a.m. (CT) on Tuesday, July 3.
For Saturday’s game, the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team and the USA 18U National Team have been divided into two squads, the Stars and Stripes. Stanek is a member of the Stars team.
A native of Overland Park, Kan., Stanek is pitching for the USA Collegiate National Team for the second consecutive summer. Last year, Stanek was an alternate for the team and pitched in two games, including one start, and had a 1-0 record with a 1.00 ERA.
Stanek started 17 games for Arkansas during the 2012 season and went 8-4 with a 2.82 ERA. His eight wins tied him with
DJ Baxendale for the most on the team. In 92.2 innings, Stanek gave up 75 hits and struck out 83. He held opposing hitters to a .229 batting average.
