FAYETTEVILLE – The fourth-ranked University of Arkansas baseball team will appear on TV at least 16 times during the 2012 season, including eight appearances as part of the Southeastern Conference television package, released on Wednesday morning.

In addition to the Razorbacks’ eight appearances on the SEC television schedule, Arkansas will make eight appearances on Cox Sports Television (CST) as part of its partnership with the regional cable network. Final selections for the Razorbacks’ CST package are being finalized and those games will be announced at a later date.

“We are pleased that fans around the nation will be able to see our nationally ranked baseball program in action throughout the season,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. “It is a tribute to our program’s continued success under Coach Van Horn that Arkansas has strengthened its position as a nationally competitive college baseball program. The valuable exposure provided by this year’s television schedule will further enhance the University of Arkansas and Razorback brands while improving our program’s ability to recruit exceptional student-athletes to aid in our pursuit of championships in the Southeastern Conference and nationally.”

As part of the SEC television package, Arkansas will appear on the ESPN family of networks five times, on Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS)/CST twice and on Fox Sports Net (FSN)/SportSouth once. The Razorbacks’ five appearances on the ESPN family of networks ties for the most among SEC schools.

“Our program is very excited about the regional and national exposure we receive through the SEC baseball television package,” head coach Dave Van Horn said. “College baseball continues to grow in popularity each year and the increased exposure on TV helps not only our team, but the sport in general.”

Arkansas could also appear on CSS and ESPNU as part of wildcard games the networks will be airing. ESPNU’s wildcard game will be aired Saturday, May 19 at noon, while CSS will televise its wildcard game on Friday, May 11, at 6 p.m. The wildcard selections will be made at a later date.

CSS and FSN will team up from the first five days of the 2012 SEC Baseball Tournament at Regions Park in Hoover, Ala., May 22-27. The championship game of the SEC Tournament will be televised by ESPN2 on Sunday, May 27, at 2:30 p.m.

The Razorbacks open the 2012 season on Friday, February 17, at 3:05 p.m. against Villanova at Baum Stadium. Season tickets for Arkansas’ 36-game home schedule are now on sale. Season tickets are $190 for adults and $140 for University of Arkansas staff, youth and senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased by calling 1-800-982-HOGS (4647) or by visiting the online ticket center at ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
